The Sunday celebration of the Eucharist is the “source and summit” for our lives as a Catholic Christian Church. Preparing children to come to the table of the Lord for the first time is a significant period in their lives and the life of the larger faith community. It is the celebration and the communal reception of Eucharist that unites us as People of God.
First Eucharist Prep - 2nd Grade and Older
Families whose children in Grade 2 or older and are participating in First Reconciliation and Eucharist Preparation must either have their children attending Carondelet School or participate in the Wednesday Evening Family Faith Formation program.
In addition, there are both At-home lessons AND several in-person gatherings. Parents and children will mostly participate in these together with the exception of one parent meeting. On-line support will be provided for at home lessons.
The in-person sessions will form the families in things that are more difficult to address at home, help them explore the physical spaces for the sacraments at church and help build community! Becoming the Body of Christ is difficult in isolation so we want to model community relationships too!
Please read more on the FAMILY FORMATION page.
Celebration of first Eucharist normally occurs on the first Sunday in May. Registration is ongoing and can be done by sending an email to Erin O'Leary. Preparation follows the reception of the sacrament of Reconciliation. Please register for both sacraments in your child’s second grade year or older.
Note
The registration form for 2024-2025 is now available. It is our policy that your child needs to be registered and regularly attending faith formation programs or attending a Catholic school. Contact Erin O'Leary with questions at erino@churchoftheholyname.org.
