Catechesis

Christ the King recognizes that our growth as Christians requires lifelong education, formation, and spiritual development. The following links give you an overview of the sacramental and formational programs that are offered for children, youth and adults.

Adult Baptism / Adult Eucharist / Adult Confirmation

Baptisms of children (age 7 or older) and adults normally occur at the Easter Vigil on Holy Saturday. Contact Fr. Herb to get more information on preparing for adult baptism.  For those adults who are over 18 and need Eucharist and/or Confirmation, please contact the parish office.

First Eucharist

The sacrament of first Eucharist is offered in the spring of the year to children in second grade and older, who are registered members of the parish.  The preparation program is family based with primary emphasis on parent / child projects in the home. Parents attend an information meeting followed by one parent/child session,  and a family retreat.  Celebration of first Eucharist normally occurs on the second Sunday after Easter. Registration is ongoing and can be done by contacting Nadine Reiser.  Preparation usually follows the reception of the sacrament of Reconciliation. Please register for both sacraments in your child’s second grade year or older.

First Reconciliation

The sacrament of first Reconciliation is offered in the fall of the year to children in second grade or older, who are registered members of the parish. The preparation program is family based with primary emphasis on parent /child projects to be completed at home.   Parents attend one information session and one parent/child session. Registration can be completed by contacting Nadine Reiser.

The sacrament of Confirmation is offered to teens, who are registered members of the parish, in grade 9 or older. The program is peer-based discussion groups led by staff and volunteers. Confirmation preparation begins in early September with Confirmation taking place in an Archdiocesan ceremony in late November. Registration is required and can be completed by contacting Nadine Reiser.

Rite of Christian Initiation for Adults

The Rite of Christian Initiation for Adults is the process by which people become full members in the Roman Catholic Church. It is a process of formation which culminates in the reception of one (or more) of the Sacraments of Initiation: Baptism, Confirmation, and Eucharist at the Easter Vigil.  For additional information contact Fr. Herb.
